Shipwrecking is the act of forcing a piece of copper to age and patina over the course of a few days giving it mottled black, blue and green hues. It is an uncontrollable process and every piece of copper will patina differently. We can force age most copper items (usually knife scales and hardware) but if in doubt please reach out to us. We also use a thin coat of verithane to seal the copper after force aging so that the patina doesnt just simply wipe off / wear off.
First a few things to consider:
Are you ok with the copper item coming out with a wild and uncontrollable pattern?
Do you have special requests? Example: this set of screws needs the threads to be kept clean and unaged
Are you having us apply the Shipwrecking process to an item from us or are you shipping said item to us?
When shipping in your item for work, please put your order number/invoice number on the shipping label. If you are able to include your receipt in the box it would be appreciated but not mandatory. If your order was over $150.00, return shipping will be on us.
