The Vallottons are considered some of the finest automatic knifemakers specializing in double action autos and for converting manual folders into automatics. They started making knives full time in 1984, making their first auto in 1987. Their assisted knife technology is in current use by Gerber, and he has worked with Spyderco and Microtech designing the very collectible Chameleon Double Action.
This specific knife was part of a specialized series of serialized knives made for the Soldiers of Fortune conevntion in Las Vegas. The convention was a big draw for mercenaries around the world and the Vallottons wanted to capture this essence into this series of knives. Each year for the convention they would do several one off customs, some unique and others one of a small run ( up to five units). Each knife auctioned and sold at the SOJ convention would be individually engraved with the lot number of the auction, the SOJ logo and the year of the convention. This knife was #20 to be sold at the 1995 SOJ Convention.
This lock back folder features a parkerized and serrated stainless steel blade that has never been used (was not sharpened after Parkerizing the blade). It features a hand engraved #20 , the SOJ Beret logo and the year 95. The handle is contoured black G-10 or equivalent for the time with all black parkerized hardware. The medallion with the three makers first initials ( Butch, Shawn & Rainy ) hides the Double Action feature of this knife. When depressed the knife will spring open.
This knife is in fantastic, unused condition. The knife pictured is the actual knife for sale. Does not include any original packaging or paperwork. This knife does not qualify for the trade-in program.
