After the success of the XM-18 Slipjoint, Rick came to the realization that a slender EDC was what the people wanted and that some sacrifices would need to be made in order to get there. That's why this 3" Spanto Flipper is the first locking XM-18 model that does not include a titanium frame lock. However, it does have the Tri-Way pivot that incorporates ball bearings for supremely smooth flipping action and also includes a set of regular washers that can be installed if you so choose.
